I had so much fun last week getting inspired by roving fashionistas at various fashion weeks around the world that I thought I would go for round two today! Whenever I visit one of my favorite cities, like New York, I come back full of ideas as to how I can wear the things that I have in my wardrobe differently. It seems like every time I turn a corner in the city I run into someone so gifted with style that I almost want to stop for a closer look. So, that leads me to today’s stop which is none other than the Big Apple. I couldn’t just stop at one though, so I am featuring a couple of lovely gals who just do style so well that they deserve the additional accolades! Again, for your pleasure I have found a few items that you can buy yourself in order to replicate these great looks! Shop on!
Oh, my am I in love with this chica’s booties!?!? Everything works really well on her in a quirky sort of way. I am sure that you are all sick of me preaching the greatness of juxtapositions of conservative and more rugged and girly with more masculine pieces but it’s really something that works. These boots for instance with the rock ‘n roll studs paired with this semi-conservative houndstooth skirt is the perfect combination. The other thing that I love is breaking up the black and white monotony with a flattering hue and finishing with of course OPAQUE tights and a large metallic tote. Hint to everyone out there… If you’re in a quandry about which bag to buy, a metallic number is always a great way to go. This stand-out neutral will go with anything and is more unique than basic black or brown. Love to love metallics!
If you don’t already have a great thick pair of black tights you MUST go out and buy a pair pronto. They are a staple for fall/winter and not only look great but will add an extra layer of warmth. As I mentioned earlier this week Express has some nice ones as does the brand Hue that is sold at Dillards. But, I digress… In order to truly capture the greatness of this gal’s look you must start with the shoes… I found a similar pair that I could do some damage in at Steve Madden. I love that these booties aren’t tight around the ankle which is more flattering against the leg. In terms of the skirt, I love this black and white plaid mini from Express (remember my store of the week) and would finish with this bright red fitted leather jacket from asos.com. I am actually more partial to the biker style than the blazer but both work – you pick!!
I am also loving this lassie’s lovely more polished “Uptown” look. Of course, it goes with out saying, but I was first mesmerized by this great jacket with it’s stand-out gold buttons and ruffle detail! Again, the proportion is done perfectly here and she not only looks great, she’s most likely pretty comfortable too especially since you’ll notice she’s donning some functional and fashionable flat knee high boots (a staple). Her sturdy square bag is a great accompaniment and her hair is styled in a casual pony that let’s us all admire her fabulous jacket.
Want it yourself? Luckily for you I found a comparably lovely jacket online that I think is the “Bee’s knees”. The great thing about this look is that you most likely have many of the basics this darling is donning including a comfy pair of black leggings, a fitted turtleneck and a pair of boots. If the boots are missing from your repertoire, try these babies… They’re a must have for anyone planning to be on her feet for an extended period and are a polished finish for many autumn/winter looks. See, style can be easy!!
