My absence is nothing less than utterly atrocious, but now that my satellite dish has thawed out a
nd I am able to receive ample reception, I am back and ready to discuss my favorite subject! During my brief hiatus perhaps many of you dear readers out there enjoyed the lackluster American Music Awards Sunday evening. I am typically only half interested in watching these awards for their fashion purpose, typically feeling like the artists are trying a bit too hard to be “different” or incredibly artsy. The male artists in particular really like to make “statements”. Take the country group Rascal Flatts for instance – outfits aside (and I wasn’t blown away by those either) I think a good hair washing was in order. I don’t know their names, so excuse me, but the blondie on the left certainly looked like his bangs were shellacked to his forehead before hitting the stage – not a good look.
Moving on to Kanye West… I have read
interviews before where this dude talks a lot about his love for fashion – however, I felt that his get-up Sunday night was entirely too casual for an awards show. The mish mosh of the camo hat and primary colors of his pants and shirt left zero impression and should have been saved for an afternoon stroll rather than an evening event.
So which of the guys caught my eye? Rihanna’s (alleged) man Chris Brown had a very interesting way of doing up a black bow tie without making it look too uptight. I loved the combo of the conservative cardigan, quilted leather, and of course nerdy bow tie. Chris looked stylish and creative!
The trend for the ladies seemed to be short, shorter, and shortest! It seemed to me like the hemlines for the most part were sky high which was quite apropos for an event such as this. I was loving to love Rihanna’s bouncy layered number in Chantilly. The hue looked g
reat against her skin and the flirty feminine shape definitely hit a home run!
One who didn’t don mini was the perpetually glammed up Christina Aguilera. This sexy songstress did it up in a floor sweeping filmy-lace metallic number that hugged her curves perfectly. Christina’s milky white skin and platinum locks complimented her entire look while her wine-hued pout added just the right punch to the soft overall look.

Not fashion related but X-tina’s performance was horrible!
Hated RiRi’s dress….she looked uncomfortable in it too. Getting up to get all of those awards without showing the world you business was tough. Plus with her figure I didn’t think it was flattering and the shape was all wrong. It almost looked maternity.
Rascal Flatts look like a trio of bafoons… what’s the deal with guys combing all thier hair forward into their face? Another style that makes me want to punch them in the face!… put on the fadora an it’s a double whammy!!!
Welcome back Jane! Thought RiRi looked cute standing still but how redic is it that she had to worry about flashing her butt to the world when she moved around. Isn’t there a more dignified way to show how great your legs are?
I agree Toph – It’s definitely NOT lady-like to show your “ass-ets” to the world… However I still really liked Rihanna’s silhouette and thought the look was utterly girly and not at all inappropriate.
Jen Gar – Thanks for supporting me on Rascal Flatts – Although I think a fedora would have helped matters.. At least then he could have covered up his greasy locks.
