Cheap Chic

in cheap chic

It’s not easy to have a stuffed closet when you don’t have the moolah to support your habit, but, there are some low end retailers who try to make it easier for us fashion-con folks who like to don something new every now and again.  On a recent jaunt to Summit Mall I was acquainted with the trendy shop Charlotte Russe.  Upon first entering I was a bit overwhelmed by the clutter of “stuff” everywhere and the terrible merchandising techniques (think white lace dress with buttery cream lace jacket worn over – eek)  however, after mustering up my patience and thinking of this shopping excursion as an adventure I actually found a couple of decent pieces, that dare I say could pass as BCBG, SAKS, or something from the SAVVY section at Nordstrom.  Keep in mind ladies, you must pick and choose wisely and mix and match these lower cost items with the nicer basics you already own to create a richer effect.  ALSO, just because they show it on the mannequin together doesn’t mean it looks good.  Style up your new cheapie find your own way and you’re guaranteed a gold star!

You’re right SJS, it’s not always what you wear… it’s how you wear it! ;)

Having the ability to select cheaper pieces and make them look high end is definitely a great skill!:)
